About Family Done Naturally

Family Done Naturally is a vision that has been growing for about 3 years now and has finally started to come to life.  My goal is that this will be not just a "blog" that the internet is so over-populated with, but more-so a living website that will continue to grow and be updated with valuable information.  So many of the blogs out there have so much information just randomly listed and I've always found them difficult to navigate.  My hopes are to make Family Done Naturally well organized so that you can either easily find what you're looking for, or you can just enjoy browsing through the depths of the site.
I spent my childhood in the "conventional" world... at a time when large producers found short cuts and the mighty dollar more important than integrity and their consumers overall wellbeing.  Very few consumers bothered to even think about protecting themselves and their family from what they brought in their home from the grocery store.  They just trusted that if it was allowed to be sold, it must be safe.
People are slowly starting to realize that it's not the case, and that we need to take more responsibility for what we bring into our homes and not trust something because it's sold on the shelf at every local grocery store.
I started exploring and researching the world of organic, all natural, and non-toxic about 10 years ago.  Over that time, I've made small attempts here and there to convert my previously "conventional" lifestyle to a more natural/organic one.  It's a long process, and it's something that needs to be done gradually if you don't want to blow your budget.
When my first child, Harbor, was born, (well, more like when I was pregnant with her), everything became even more pressing.  I realized the importance of making sure that she had the best chance for a healthy life... and with how prevalent cancer and other diseases and disorders have become, I knew we had to get serious about things to make that happen.
I love to research things... I'd say that I'm slightly obsessed with research (and I think my family would probably agree).  I've spent countless hours looking into topic after topic, and I realize every day how many other things there are out there that should probably be removed from our lifestyle due to the hazards that come along with them.
I hope to be able to help others out there that don't have the time to research everything themselves.  I know it can be very time consuming, and we live in a very "busy" world.  I hope to be able to provide information, comparisons, and reviews on various products, topics, etc. that have come up in my life.
I completely understand that "Ignorance is Bliss" and that it would be way easier to just go about living in the "conventional" world and ignore the effects it can have on your body and your life.  I also know that many people think that they can not afford to change out of this lifestyle.  I encourage you to open your mind to the idea of a more natural or organic lifestyle, and to take baby steps in that process.  Surprisingly, there are ways to make the switch very affordably.
Lastly, I feel that I need to throw a disclaimer in here.  I hope to cover a large variety of topics and issues on this site, and although I don't want to offend anyone, I also don't want to avoid topics or thoughts in order to remain "politically correct".  I completely understand that each opinion has at least two sides, and I also believe that at times,  although we may have different motives, we can arrive at a common ground.  For example, although I don't believe in "global warming", I do believe that we are obligated to be good stewards of the earth we've been given...  I do believe that it is very important that children are cared for by their parents as opposed to a nanny, babysitter, or day care provider, but I understand that in these economic times, "you've gotta do what you've gotta do".
As this website continues to grow, I welcome suggestions, references, and/or opinions from anyone who cares to share.    I realize that there are countless topics out there that deserve just as much attention as another.  Please, email me, with any thoughts or suggestions you may have, and let me know if you may be interested in writing a page for this site.
